    Why Singapore Matters for Founders

Singapore is where most Southeast Asian venture capital is managed. Funds that invest across Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia and India often run their investment teams from Singapore, so a meeting here is effectively a meeting with the region's capital. If you want the list of firms first, start with my directory of venture capital firms in Singapore.

In this guide I cover who invests at each stage, typical cheque sizes, what Singapore investors look for, and how to pitch them, including if you are a founder based outside Asia.

Who Invests at Each Stage in Singapore

  1. Pre-seed ($100K to $500K): programs and early funds such as Antler, Iterative (YC-style for Southeast Asia) and Accelerating Asia.
  2. Seed ($500K to $5M): Golden Gate Ventures, SEEDS Capital, Wavemaker Partners, Monk's Hill Ventures and East Ventures.
  3. Series A and later ($5M to $100M+): Vertex Ventures, Jungle Ventures and Peak XV (formerly Sequoia India & Southeast Asia).
  4. Deep tech: SGInnovate, which is government-backed, focuses on science-led companies.
  5. These ranges come from the firms in my directory and are a guide, not a promise. Always check a firm's recent deals before you reach out.

    What Singapore VCs Look For

    1. A regional story. Singapore itself is a small market. Investors want to know how you will win across Southeast Asia, which has more than 670 million people.

    2. Capital efficiency. Southeast Asian investors became more cautious after 2022. Show a clear path to revenue and explain how far this round takes you.

    3. A credible team. Show technical or industry expertise, and ideally someone who understands the markets you are entering.

    4. Clean structure. Many founders use a Singapore holding company. It is common, familiar to investors and makes later rounds easier.

Can Foreign Startups Pitch Singapore VCs?

Yes. Singapore VCs back founders from India, Europe, Africa and beyond, but they usually expect a Southeast Asian angle: regional customers, a team in the region or a concrete expansion plan. If your business has no link to Asia, a Singapore VC is unlikely to lead your round. In that case, use Singapore investors as follow-on capital once you have a regional plan.

How to Pitch: A Step-by-Step Approach

    1. Shortlist five to eight firms whose stage and sector match your round. My Singapore VC list shows stages and cheque sizes for each firm.

    2. Get a warm introduction through a portfolio founder, an accelerator or LinkedIn. Cold emails work too if the first line shows real traction.

    3. Send a short email: two paragraphs, your key metric, the size of your round and a link to your deck.

    4. Tailor your deck for the region. My complete guide to winning pitch decks in 2026 and my guide to pitching a venture capital firm cover what investors expect.

    5. Follow up once after a week, with a short update rather than a reminder.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pitching Singapore VCs

    1. How much do Singapore VCs invest at seed stage?

Seed rounds led by Singapore funds are usually $500K to $3M, with individual seed cheques often between $500K and $2M.

    2. Do I need to be based in Singapore to raise from a Singapore VC?

No, but you need a clear Southeast Asian angle. Many founders set up a Singapore holding company before or during the round.

    3. Which Singapore VCs invest at pre-seed?

Antler, Iterative and Accelerating Asia are among the most active pre-seed investors in Singapore.

    4. How are Singapore venture capital funds regulated?

Fund managers are regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), most under the Venture Capital Fund Manager regime. This applies to the fund, not to your startup.

    5. Where can I find a list of VC firms in Singapore?

My Singapore VC directory lists leading firms with websites, addresses, stages and typical deal sizes. You can also browse the full venture capital directory or read more on the blog.
